How To Recover accidentally deleted files from SD card.

The addition of camera in smart phone has led to adding important moments of life with the phone. So whenever we go, we click and save the moments in our SD card. Now sometime problems may come when accidentally photos get deleted.

Before knowing about how to recover them, let’s learn a bit about SD card and its way of saving files. Smartphones are like small computer and Android are their OS. At the time of starting the phone, android scans for all the memory in the SD card and if it is not able to read some files (corrupt files) then move them into LOST.DIR.

What is LOST.DIR?

LOST.DIR is a system folder maintained by the OS. While the phones starts, Android OS places the recovered files in it. If OS is unable to understand a file, then it move the file to LOST.DIR. Normally files present in the LOST.DIR are recoverable. It can be considered as “Recycle bin” of the windows system.

Files may end up stored in LOST.DIR folder due to following reasons:

  • Abruptly pulling out SD card from Android phone
  • Interruptions while downloading files on Android device
  • Sudden freezing of Android device operating system
  • Switching off the device while some read-write process is carrying on

The files in the process of copying are also renamed.

How to recover files from LOST.DIR.

If the files present in the LOST.DIR are not recovered quickly and there are chances of losing them. So it advisable to recover them as fast as possible. If you don’t want to recover any file, then you can delete the content of it also. It is safe to delete the LOST.DIR folder also to free the space in your phone. The OS will create an empty LOST.DIR in next phone start up.

Three Top Microsoft Investors Allegedly Want Bill Gates To Step Down As Chairman

This time it may happen that a great revolution will come to Microsoft.  As per business insider three of the top investors in Microsoft are making voice to remove Bill Gates as chairman of the company, which he co-founded.

In August, Ballmer said he would retire within 12 months, amid pressure from activist fund manager ValueAct Capital Management.

In the midst of a massive reorganization, current CEO Steve Ballmer is stepping down. It will bring big changes if Bill Gates steps down. As per news currently Gates won 4.5% of the company share, which makes him the largest individual shareholder and it gives him power not to steps down if he does not want. That is what I think after reading news from different websites.

Reason for such demand is that the investors think presence of Gates in the board limits the possibility of adoption of new strategy.

They are also worried that Gates - who spends most of his time on his philanthropic foundation - wields power out of proportion to his declining shareholding.

As Gates is selling 80 million shares each year and if he continues to do so, he will eventually lose all of his shares from Company in near future.

I am waiting to see the outcome of it after recent news from Microsoft like, Microsoft bought Nokia’s mobile unit. Google and i-phone are getting more famous in phone market and people are getting more interested in phone, tablets and losing interest in computers.

Google introduces HummingBird in the Search Engine Algorithm

Google search engine and Search Engine Optimization are the best invention ever done for mankind and internet. As a dominant search engine inn internet Google is giving free service to all users for last 15 years, giving answers to all complex and lengthy query for its users.

As technology is developing and people getting more reliable on search engine the query are also getting lengthy, and complex. Now people are searching for more complex query in Google.

So Google is developing its algorithm too. Recently Google has introduced its latest algorithm Hummingbird and added to search Engine technology.

As per AmitSinghal the hummingbird affects 90% of search in Google algorithm today. "Hummingbird" is the company's effort to match the meaning of queries with that of documents on the Internet.

Singhal explained that Hummingbird is aimed at giving Google's search engine a better grasp at understanding concepts instead of mere words because people have become so reliant on the search site that they now enter lengthy questions in the search box instead of a few words, the report added.

Consider if a user is searching for “A place to buy Dell laptop near my home”. Previously the search engine was working to search for websites containing the words in the sentence. Now by thunderbird the search engine will try to understand the meaning of the word and what the user wants.

If the user has shared his location with Google then, it searches for stores nearby his location. Place to buy is intercept as store and Dell laptop is intercept as a gadgets of a specific brand.

I hope search will get easier now. J

Make a map for the path you traveled : My Tracks Review

There are many apps present in Google play for android and it always create confusion on selecting the best app to get a particular feature.

Consider the feature of recording and getting summary of daily running, morning walk experience. I tried many apps and found out as “My tracks” to be the best one, which I am using now.

Whenever you are going for a walk or to an unknown place, just start the recording feature of the app with your phone GPS. The app will start recording your path, speed and all elevation of the path in which you are going.

After you finish the travel, stop the recording and find out all your work done starting from distance travelled, average speed, max speed and a graph of elevation and speed.

The app will give you a graphical representation of the path you travelled (in map), which will help you to track down your way back home, if you get lost while exploring. Think about it. You have gone to a picnic/new place/city and started roaming around. There are chances that you forget the path, through which you came and don’t know the address where to go.

What you can do is while starting, start the recording feature of the app in your phone and roam around wherever you want. It will record your path in Google map, so when you want to come back, then just follow the path in the reverse way. J

The app lets you store the data in Google drive also, which you share with your friends to let them know about your work out.
